Don't Fall Victim to Fraud

Fraud schemes

We have observed an increase in recent scams. We encourage everyone to be careful and vigilant so as to prevent financial loss, burden, heartache, and stress resulting from these fraud schemes.

Oftentimes, you might not even know that you are being defrauded! These fraud schemes can manifest themselves as a:

  • Fake job opportunity
  • Fake family emergency call
  • Fake IRS/government call
  • Fake online relationship
  • Fake exchanges on gaming sites
  • Fake sweepstakes, prizes, lotteries

Typically, a fraudster will convince you to trust them, to act quickly, and sometimes secretly (so as to not alert family members, bank personnel, and others). At some point or another a fraudster will ask you to:

  • Withdraw cash
  • Buy gift cards
  • Deposit unfamiliar checks
  • Click on links in emails
  • Answer text messages
  • Give personal information on a call

Please remember: Watertown Savings Bank will NEVER call to ask for your debit card or personal information. If you suspect fraud, please call Customer Support immediately at 617-928-9000.
